Shriekfest Horror Film Festival is a film festival specializing in the horror genre. Founded in July 2001 by Denise Gossett, it is the oldest continually running genre festival in Los Angeles, California. It is held at Raleigh Studios on Melrose Boulevard in the world-famous Charlie Chaplin Theatre. They also have a sister festival which runs in Orlando, Florida.
Mark has been entering their screenplay competitions since 2014 and has been a finalist twice. This year was finally his year! His screenplay ‘Ganglers’ won best short horror screenplay!
Shriekfest awards multiple prizes for horror films and screenplays. It also awards films in the science fiction, fantasy, and thriller categories. Prizes include amazing hand-made trophies designed by an artist as per the above pictures, product awards, and publicity. Mark’s trophy is now displayed front and centre in his living room.

Moviemaker Magazine voted the Shriekfest horror film festival in the top 25 film festivals worth the entry fee the top 13 film festivals to die for! Festival Director Denise Gossett has been voted one of 13 most important women in horror.
