New Short Story to be Published in SNAFU: Punk’d by Cohesion Press

Cohesion Press is an award-winning publisher based in Australia. Their flagship SNAFU books are a widely acclaimed series with elements of action, horror, and sci-fi. Netflix Original™ TV show Love, Death & Robots has featured SNAFU stories in three seasons, and a fourth season is in production.

What is quite refreshing about Cohesion Press is they have an open submission window for each SNAFU anthology. Anyone can submit their stories for free, but competition is fierce, and standards are exceptionally high.

In 2018, I had a story called Ragnarok published in SNAFU: Resurrection and I’ve submitted several times since. In 2022, I was on the shortlist for their Dead Or Alive edition, but I didn’t make the last cut.

However, I am pleased to announce that they have selected one of my short stories for SNAFU: Punk’d, their next release.

In SNAFU: Punk’d, the theme revolves around Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk is a type of science fiction set in a future city dominated by technology. The heroes are normally loners, anti-authoritarian, brand-averse and tech literate. Think Rick Deckard in Bladerunner.

In the decades since, Cyberpunk has evolved into many bold and creative strains such as Steampunk and Cyber Noir. My story is called Battleborg. It falls in the Dungeonpunk category because it is a Cyberpunk story that weaves in magic – a touch of fantasy in a dark sci-fi world. It is an uncommon mix of genres that I find exciting, and I am so looking forward to seeing what people think of it. SNAFU: Punk’d is due to be released on October 23rd, 2023, and the (US) Kindle version is available for preorder here.
