Talent Campus 5.0 – Ignition

Fire! Fire!

The word screenwriting conjures up an image of an introvert locked inside their study tapping away on a vintage typewriter.  They wear glasses, chew their lip and love a bit of Tipp-ex correctional fluid action. Sadly, this is 100% accurate which is where Talent Campus comes into play! This screenwriting immersion course turns a normal writer into a Super Writer! It gives you a glimpse of the very best version of yourself, someone who is ready to go out into the world and make a difference.

How I hear you ask? BY SHEER TERROR! I exaggerate (a bit) – Talent Campus uses a multitude of different techniques and disciplines to hone the mind, unleash the spirit and harden the shell. There are workshops hosted by famous show runners, producers, agents, directors and the odd statistician. During one of these sessions, I even had the privilege of fondling a real Oscar!

And the Oscar for worst actor goes to…

You engage in psychological games and work assignments to give you a taste of what it’s like to work in the business. There are meditation techniques and group therapy to unlock the genius within and finally, a little thing I call  ‘I’m a Screenwriter, Get Me Out Of Here.’ These are challenges that come at you sideways. That’s just a fancy way of saying, ‘expect the unexpected.” I’ve walked across real broken glass. They even placed microphones on the floor so you can hear every crack in excruciating detail. I’ve pitched a feature project to an entire room of people… with a tarantula crawling across my hand. I’ve even walked across 1,600 degrees of burning embers and then walked across it again when they stoked it to 2,000. I did it and said, “Thank you, sir, may I have another?” This particular challenge was for a very worthy cause. Please check out the details here and contribute.

First name Mister, last name Glass

What adds to the special factor of Talent Campus is the camaraderie, the chemistry and the bonds that form between the writing group, their coaches and mentors. A writing family is formed as you go through these experiences together.  You pick each other up, you push each other onwards. It is an amazing experience. And it’s not even over! I’ve been through what is called the Ignition stage. We are still carrying out writing tasks and having amazing online sessions with some of the best in the business. Next, it’s the Crucible. Who knows what awaits me then? It sounds a bit like the Thunderdome – 25 writers enter, 1 writer leaves.

Spider Mark, Spider Mark

If you want to make a difference. If you want to elevate your writing potential to its highest, I suggest you open yourself up to the possibilities and give Talent Campus a try. There’s a link here to the next one but if you miss out on that one, keep an eye out as they run them every few months.
